Windows 10 March 2023 Patch (KB5023696) released

It's the second Tuesday of the month, which means it's Patch Tuesday again. Today, Microsoft is releasing the March 2023 monthly security update (also known as "version B") for Windows Server 20H2, as well as the latest versions of Windows 10, 21H1, 21H2, and 22H2. The new updates, released as KB5023696, update the builds to 19042.2728, 19044.2728, and 19045.2728.

This update is mandatory and will be automatically pushed and installed by Windows Update. The full list of updates released by Microsoft today is as follows.

  • Windows 10 version 1607 — March 14, 2023—KB5023697 (OS Build 14393.5786)

Windows 10 version 20H2, 21H2, and 22H2 — March 14, 2023—KB5023696 (OS Builds 19042.2728, 19044.2728, and 19045.2728)

Microsoft has fixed an issue in the Appx State Repository that left some data behind after a user account was deleted, causing the database to grow over time and slowing down user logins in multi-user environments such as FSLogix.

Microsoft has also fixed a Daylight Saving Time display issue that affects the United States of Mexico and has fixed a bug that causes a resource conflict (deadlock) between two or more threads.
