watchOS 9.4 released: improved alerts, cycle tracking and room fibrillation history for new regions
Apple has begun rolling out new feature updates to its smartwatch operating system. watchOS 9.4 is now available for download on compatible Apple Watch models, bringing improvements to alarm and cycle tracking and AFib history support for new regions.
What's new in watchOS 9.4?
The following is the full changelog:
- Wake alarms will no longer be silenced by the cover-to-silence gesture. Apple made this change to prevent alarms from being accidentally silenced while you are asleep.
- Cycle tracking with retrospective ovulation estimation and out-of-cycle alerts is now supported in Moldova and Ukraine.
- Atrial fibrillation tracking is now available in Ukraine, Moldova, Colombia, Malaysia and Thailand.
Which Apple Watch models support watchOS 9.4?
All Apple Watch models that are compatible with previous versions of watchOS 9 can download and install version 9.4. See below for a list of supported models:
- Apple Watch Series 4
- Apple Watch Series 5
- Apple Watch SE
- Apple Watch Series 6
- Apple Watch Series 7
- Apple Watch Series 8
- Apple Watch SE 2nd gen
- Apple Watch Ultra
Please note that to install the latest Apple Watch update, you'll need an iPhone 8 and a newer version of iOS 16 or later.
To install watchOS 9.4, go to Watch Applications > General > Software Updates. To install watchOS 9.4, the battery must be at least 50% charged and the watch must be connected to a charger.
