iPhone 16 Pro or no periscope Telephoto or Ultra version only
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo tweeted his latest findings, reaffirming his previous prediction that Apple will debut a periscopic telephoto lens in this year's iPhone 15 Ultra (or iPhone 15 Pro Max).
The iPhone 16 series in 2024 will likely have only one, most likely the top-of-the-line model, with a periscopic telephoto lens.
Previously, the market expected several iPhone models to be equipped with periscopic telephoto lenses in 2023-2024, which will be a key aspect of Apple's iPhone upgrade.
But Ming-Chi Kuo's latest prediction throws cold water on that statement as well. If Kuo's prediction is true, then the demand for iPhone lens upgrades is lower than the market expects, and to some extent, this will also affect companies in the supply chain.
And Ming-Chi Kuo's prediction actually matches previous leaks. The iPhone 15 series will continue to expand the differences between models, and if the periscopic telephoto lens becomes another key difference between the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Ultra (iPhone 15 Pro Max), it will inevitably force consumers to choose between the two models even more.
Making the more expensive model more popular so that consumers who really want the feature will pay for it. While the iPhone 15 Ultra's price may break the iPhone's all-time record, the iPhone 14 Pro helped Apple's sales beat the market. Can the iPhone 15 Ultra continue the boom?
The periscopic telephoto lens is nothing new, this side of the Android camp, Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo, mainstream manufacturers have been repeated several times a few years ago.
The periscope telephoto is mainly to adapt to the limited space inside the phone body, through a special prism, lens, anti-shake structure to extend the light path as much as possible, by folding the reflection to let the light into the image sensor. Having a periscopic telephoto enables the phone to have a more excellent optical zoom capability and improves telephoto image performance.
