Google plans to launch a wireless tracker: against the Apple AirTag
Recently, tipster Mishaal Rahman revealed that Google is developing a wireless tracker to rival Apple's AirTag.
According to the picture released by Rahman, there is a category called "Locator tag" in Google's Fast Pair Bluetooth quick pairing, a category that has not appeared before.
The tracker will use both BLE (Bluetooth low power) and UWB (ultra-wideband) technology, and has a small speaker for sounding alerts, built by Google's Nest team.
It is reported that the device is likely to be launched at the I/O 2023 developer conference, in tandem with the Pixel 8.
However, Apple's AirTag has been reported several times after the launch for tracking, theft and other illegal acts, which has brought the product into question.
For Google, if it can solve this problem, it will hopefully improve the product's reputation and popularity.
