Dell launches the Inspiron 14 ARM Edition laptop
16 March - Dell has announced the Inspiron 14 ARM Edition laptop running Windows 11 on ARM.
The new laptop is powered by a Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 processor, Samsung's 7nm process with 8 Kryo 495 cores and support for LPDDR4-2133MHz memory, delivering 18% better performance than Intel's 10th generation i5.
Equipped with 8GB of LPDDR4x-2133 memory and a 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD, the memory is on-board but the SSD is upgradeable.
Otherwise, the Inspiron 14 ARM Edition has a 14-inch screen with 1080p resolution, a built-in 40Wh battery that lasts up to 16 hours and passive cooling.
Ports include two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, one USB 2.0 Type-A, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microSD card reader.
Overall, the laptop is a little behind the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3-powered devices, but it is priced at just $500, although the performance and software compatibility of Windows 11 on ARM is something to consider before buying.
