ChatGPT developer OpenAI buys great domain name AI.com
Earlier today, the domain economy giant Saw.com announced on social media that it had participated in the sale of the top-level domain "AI.com".
Judging by the retweeted article, the buyer of this domain name is none other than OpenAI, the developers of ChatGPT, the generative artificial intelligence that has been all the rage of late.
Neither OpenAI nor Saw.com have revealed exactly how much the superb AI.com domain name is selling for, but based on the listed price of the domain name when it is sold in 2021, it is worth at least $11 million.
Currently, visiting the AI.com domain name will take you directly to the home page of the ChatGPT website, "chat.openai.com".
Clearly, this domain name is simpler and more memorable than the original official website, and it will give users the potential impression that AI=ChatGPT.
It's worth noting that OpenAI's $11 million investment was made possible not only by ChatGPT's outstanding results, but also by the technology giant behind it, Microsoft.
Microsoft has previously supported OpenAI with significant funding and cloud computing resources, and earlier this year announced a "multi-year, multi-billion dollar" investment in OpenAI.
