AirPods, AirPods Pro, AirPods Max get new firmware 5B59 update

Apple has released a new firmware update for the AirPods lineup with unknown bug fixes and performance improvements.

The update is earmarked for most of the current AirPods lineup, including the AirPods 3, first-generation AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max. The new version number is 5B59.

The two models not updated are the original AirPods, and the second-generation AirPods Pro.

Apple hasn't provided any detailed release notes for the firmware update, which is expected to include the usual bug fixes and performance improvements.

How to check AirPods firmware version

Apple does not provide a direct way to install new firmware versions for devices such as AirPods. However, we can check the current firmware version by doing the following:

  1. Open the Settings application.
  2. Select "General".
  3. Select "About".
  4. Select the AirPods currently connected to the device.
  5. A menu will appear with information about the device, including the firmware version.
