Apple Watch Pro CAD renderings exposed
Apple's hardware event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 7, when the company will unveil the iPhone 14 series, new iPad models, AirPods Pro 2, and possibly even the Mac Pro. In addition, Apple Watch Series 8 is also worth looking forward to. More importantly, we may see the launch of a new product called the Apple Watch Pro. We've seen some reports about the Apple Watch Pro, most recently from noted Apple reporter Mark Gurman.
CAD renderings from industry sources showing the Apple Watch Pro with a large display are in line with recent leaks. It will feature the largest display to date on an Apple Watch. We're told the Apple Watch Pro measures 49mm, which means it's going to be quite chunky and won't fit everyone, as Gurman rightly points out.
Starting from the front, the Apple Watch Pro CAD rendering shows a large display with very slim bezels. A noticeable redesign can be seen on the right side of the frame, where a protrusion now houses the Digital Crown, microphone, and multitasking buttons. It's unclear if this form factor will also appear in the regular Series 8 model. Since it's the first Pro model of the Apple Watch, we might also see some exclusive straps.
The Apple Watch Pro appears to have a button on the left side of the frame as well as a speaker vent. The purpose of this extra button is currently unclear. That's pretty much the design of the Apple Watch Pro. We're curious to see what new features Apple Watch Pro offers.
Reports suggest that the larger display on the Apple Watch Pro will be able to display more fitness and health tracking stats. We might also see new watch faces that take advantage of the extra screen real estate. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports that the Apple Watch Pro will feature a larger battery, a low-power mode, and a sturdy titanium case. The Apple Watch Pro's size and rugged design probably won't appeal to the average user.
As Apple rolls out a Pro version of its smartwatch, future advanced features may be reserved for this particular model, similar to what Apple has done with the iPhone Pro model.
The Apple Watch Pro will be the company's most expensive smartwatch yet, priced between $900 and $1,000.
