MediaTek officially announced the Dimensity 8000/8100

Positioned flagship market Dimensity 9000 just started commercial landing, MediaTek today for the high-end market officially released a new generation of Dimensity 8000 series, the first batch includes Dimensity 8000, Dimensity 8100.

The two core specifications are identical, the difference only lies in the latter frequency is a bit higher, naturally also more popular, a bit like the original Dimensity 1000, Dimensity 1000 +.

MediaTek Tiangui brand was born in 2019, the first year of 5G commercialization, and soon formed the four series of Dimensity 1000, Dimensity 900, Dimensity 800, Dimensity 700, complete coverage of the high, medium and low-end markets, with 45 million sets shipped in the third quarter of 2020, and the total shipments of 4G + 5G chips jumped to the first in the world.

In 2021, the Dimensity 9000 series was born, and MediaTek has been the world's No. 1 in 4G+5G shipments for six consecutive quarters.

1. Performance and energy efficiency

The Dimensity 8000 series uses TSMC's 5nm manufacturing process, with an eight-core CPU, including four A78s and four A55s, along with a 4MB Level 3 cache, and a six-core Mali-G610 GPU, plus a fifth-generation AI processor APU 580, including two performance cores and one general-purpose core.

In terms of frequency, the Dimensity 8000 CPU 2.75GHz + 2.0GHz, the Dimensity 8100's large core increased to 2.85GHz, in addition to a 20% increase in GPU frequency and a 25% increase in APU large core frequency.

According to the official statement, Dimensity 8100 has 12% higher CPU multi-core performance and 44% higher multi-core efficiency, 4% higher GPU performance and 35% higher energy efficiency, 39% higher APU AI energy efficiency benchmark test, and 62% higher performance and 72% higher energy efficiency in background bokeh effect test compared to its competitor (Snapdragon 888).

The Dimensity 9000 has been killing it in the Zurich AI Benchmark, scoring over a million points for the first time, 77% higher than the Snapdragon 888, and naturally the Dimensity 8000 series will not be weak either.

In addition to performance, MediaTek has also been emphasizing the high energy efficiency of the Dimensity 9000 series, especially in games, and this Dimensity 8000 series is no exception.

According to official data, the Breguet 8100 compared to the competition, medium game power consumption is 27% lower on average, the temperature is 6 degrees lower on average, in medium and heavy games are 24% lower, 3 degrees lower, and in heavy games can be stable without degradation, to ensure continuous high frame.

In order to optimize the performance of the game, Dimensity 8000 series integrated HyperEngine 5.0 optimization engine, one can be intelligently regulated to reduce power consumption, local dynamic rendering, intelligent resource scheduling, intelligent frame stabilization by about 15%, 5%, 5%, respectively, but also to reduce the jitter rate by 25%.

Dimensity 8000 series integrated with the seventh generation DSP Imagiq 780, including three 14-bit ISP, processing speed of 5 billion pixels per second.

Functionally, it can support up to 200 megapixel single camera, 32+32+16 megapixel triple camera, 4K60 HDR10+ video recording, support dual-camera HDR video recording in parallel, you can dual-camera front and rear camera in parallel, and both support triple exposure.

Motion Unblur allows accurate capture at high speed snapshots, AI recognizes moving subjects and automatically determines shutter speed.

AI-NR 2.0 noise reduction and AI anti-blur are specifically optimized for night shots, and the noise reduction is better than Multi-Frame Noise Reduction (MFNR) with 64 frames.

Also brings full-featured HDR to the Android platform, supporting 4K multi-exposure HDR video recording.

Once again, MediaTek emphasizes that power consumption is also lower when taking pictures, with 4K video recording 30% lower than the competition and temperatures that can be 4 degrees lower.

3. The display

Among them, AI video image quality enhancement can convert ordinary SDR video into HDR video with up to 25.48% dynamic range increase, almost comparable to the native HDR 29.50% addition.

4. 5G

Dimensity 8000 series integrated 5G baseband support 3GPP R16 standard, support 5G Sub-6GHz full-band network, 2CC CA dual-carrier aggregation technology, downlink speed up to 4.7Gbps.

Of course, there is no shortage of PowerSave 2.0 power saving technology, light load / signal connection power consumption is 32% lower than the competition, high load / APP download power consumption is 41% lower.

As for the end device, Redmi K50 universe will debut Dimensity 8100, realme GT Neo3 will also be equipped with 8100.
