How to use ChatGPT on Apple devices

ChatGPT, OpenAI's AI-powered conversational chatbot, has taken the world by storm since its release last November. It can answer questions and help with tasks such as generating content and writing code. To access ChatGPT, you need to open your web browser and go to chat.openai.com. However, if you are using an Apple device and want to access the tool more quickly, there are two apps you can use.

MacGPT

Its developer, Jordi Bruin, describes MacGPT as "a simple native MacOS application that allows users to quickly access ChatGPT from their menu bar". MacGPT loads the ChatGPT interface into a web browser. All you have to do is log in with your OpenAI account and click on the menu bar icon to start a conversation with the chatbot. You can even assign a keyboard shortcut to the tool by clicking on the gear icon for faster access. Unfortunately, Bruin says it's not possible to use a security key to log into OpenAI in MacGPT due to MacOS limitations.

MacGPT is currently free to use, but the developer does accept donations. In addition to MacGPT, the developer has other macOS applications such as MacBing and MacPoe, which give you faster access to the new Bing and Quora's AI chatbot Poe, respectively.

watchGPT

On the other hand, if you want to access ChatGPT from your Apple Watch, there is an app called watchGPT. Some of its features include

  • Get quick answers to questions or compose longer messages without typing
  • Share the results of your interactions with others via text, email or social media
  • Set the app to complex for ease of use

To use watchGPT, open the app and ask a question or enter your information. The app will then provide you with an answer that you can easily share via SMS, email or social media.

Currently in beta testing, watchGPT will soon be available on the App Store for $4.99.
