Apple releases iOS 16.5 Developer Beta 2 firmware for developers (with new features at a glance)

As WWDC 2023 approaches, attention has shifted from iOS 16 to iOS 17, but iOS 16 won't be officially complete until iOS 17 launches, so Apple will continue to roll out iOS 16 updates.

Today, Apple is pushing iOS 16.5 and iPadOS 16.5 Developer Beta 2 to iPhone and iPad developers, following the release of iOS 16.4.1 last week.

To summarise what we have found so far, iOS 16.5 adds screen recording to Siri, allowing users to ask Siri to take screen recordings. In addition, Apple News has added a new "Sports" category to cater for sports fans. Apple is also adding a new "quad screen picture-in-picture" feature to the TV app, allowing users to watch multiple live sports events at the same time.

In addition to iOS 16.5, Apple is also releasing iPadOS 16.5, watchOS 9.5, tvOS 16.5 and macOS 13.4 developer beta, with the public beta expected to be available in 1-2 days.
