Cyberpunk 2077 Edgerunners Update, Phantom Freedom Expansion Pack Revealed
CD Projekt Red has revealed the first expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 called Phantom Liberty, with a new update called Edgerunners 1.6. While the new update is available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC, the upcoming expansion pack will only be available on current-gen consoles and PC. Unfortunately, previous generation consoles lost support for Cyberpunk 2077, as CD Project Red partnered with Microsoft to release a limited edition Xbox One X Cyberpunk 2077 with free expansion access. Update 1.6 will be the last major Cyberpunk 2077 update for PS4 and Xbox One, with a few minor updates to come.
Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.6 is associated with a new game-based Netflix animation called Edgerunners. The new update brings quite a few changes to the game. Players can now recreate their character's face, body, and network software. It also introduces the first of many upcoming in-game arcade games Roach Race. Edgerunners anime protagonist David Martinez's jacket is now available in the game. Since the anime is a classic, some Cyberpunk 2077 characters may appear in Edgerunners, and the game will get a new mission that references the anime. In addition, locations from the game will appear in Edgerunners, and players can find many anime references in the world of Cyberpunk 2077. Finally, the update also brings some new weapons and three new Gig.
Phantom Liberty will be the first expansion pack for Cyberpunk 2077, coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2023. Phantom Liberty is a spy thriller-themed expansion pack set in the new district of Night City. While CD Projekt Red didn't provide many details about the source material, it will return in some capacity with a new cast of characters alongside Keanu Reeves' Johnny Silverhand. The trailer shows V vowing to "faithfully serve the new United States of America," which Silverhand calls a "bad idea. More details on the Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Free expansion will be announced in the coming months.
